Shirley B. Floming

ERIE – Shirley B. Floming, 82, of Erie, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at home.

Shirley was born in Prophetstown to James and Burneile (Olinger) Melton on Dec. 21, 1929.

She married Donald Floming on Nov. 26, 1949. They owned Don’s Tap for 16 years. Shirley also was a homemaker with a hair salon in her home for years. She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughters, Tamara (Larry) Hamilton of Morrison and Kindyl (Scott) Weber of Erie; sons, Douglas Floming (Kristi Bartels Ernst), Kevin Floming, and Greg (Linda) Floming, all of Erie; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Carol Young of Erie and Marilyn (Owen) Woodard of Arizona; sisters-in-law, Helen Melton and Ruth Stubbs of Erie; and brother-in-law Will (Lois) Floming of Osco.

Shirley was preceded in death by brothers, James L. Melton and Robert Melton and a sister, Faye Lacy.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the rosary at 3:30 p.m. at Gibson-Bode Funeral Home in Erie. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Erie. Memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Catholic Church or the Erie Ambulance Service.
