Francis E. Kennard

ROCK FALLS – Francis E. Kennard, 84, of Quincy, formerly of Rock Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Quincy Veterans Home.

He was born on July 22, 1928, in Seward, Neb., the son of Arthur and Ida (Magwitz) Kennard. Francis was united in marriage to Helen McKown on Aug. 25, 1962, in Morrison; she preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 2008.

He served in the United States Air Force as master sergeant, and worked at Frantz Manufacturing in Sterling until his retirement.

He is survived by two daughters, Carol (Dan) Merrill of Ohio, Ill., and Susan Kennard of Virginia; four sons, Herbert (Deb) Hallen of Dover, Robert (Sherry) Kennard of Sterling, Martin Kennard and Arthur Kennard, both of Virginia; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Wilma Karns, of Morrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Francis also was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson and five sisters.

Visitation and the funeral were Saturday at Garland Funeral Home in Walnut, with the Rev. Katie Voigt, pastor of Red Oak United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Limerick Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by Rock Falls American Legion Post 902.
