Harry A. Stouffer

STERLING – Harry Amos Stouffer, 100, of Sterling, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling. He farmed for most of his life in Kansas and Illinois.

Harry was born April 23, 1912, in Glen Elder, Kan., the son of Edwin and Mary (Marzoff) Stouffer. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Blanche Friesen on June 21, 1946, in Rock Falls. She preceded him in death on Jan. 26, 2009. He had been active in 4-H for 50 years. Harry was very proud that he was 1001/2 years old and independent.

Survivors include two daughters, Marcy (Mark) Stouffer of Loves Park and Gail (Bob) Nevalainen of Minnesota; two sons, Kenneth (Sophie) Stouffer of Chicago and Keith (Kathy) Stouffer of Sterling; seven grandchildren, Jason Permenter, Chad (Sarah) Nevalainen, Kari (Cole) Harban, Heather Nevalainen, Kenneth (Sherrie) Stouffer, Mary Ann Stouffer and Tracie Huizenga; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
