Vote for Joyce, Sacco-Miller

Published: Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 1:15 a.m. CDT

Recently, lifelong Republican Sheila Schipper, retired circuit clerk, and Roger Schipper, retired sheriff, urged SVM readers of all parties to vote for the Democrat Trish Joyce for state’s attorney. How courageous and admirable.

Sheila, a friend to all, passed suddenly only days after their letter. Our hearts go out to Roger and family. May she have a joyous hereafter.

So many of us realize that Trish Joyce is the choice voters must make over Pat Liston, a Republican. Liston stated his support for the conduct of his boss, State’s Attorney Gary Spencer, including his handling of one Nick Sheley since a juvenile.

Many, like myself, believe Mr. Reed and all eight victims would be alive had Gary Spencer sought the posting of appropriately high bonds and jail sentences, rather than allowing Sheley free to use as his “informant.”

There are many other examples of professional misconduct. Remember poor Mrs. Mock’s 2.5 years in jail wrongly, etc.? Total cost to the taxpayer, after restitution, will be huge.

I lived 20-plus years in Lee County, and I know all the county and city players. Voters clearly should vote in Ms. Sacco-Miller and remove Henry Dixon.
