Chicago attorney Thomas M. Lynch has been appointed to a 14-year term as bankruptcy judge for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

He takes office on Jan. 3.

Chief Judge Frank H. Easterbrook of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit made the announcement this week.

Lynch, who is with the business litigation department of the Chicago office of Faegre Baker Daniels LLP, earned an undergraduate degree, summa cum laude, from the University of Dayton, a master’s from the University of Chicago, and a law degree from Northwestern University School of Law.
