DIXON – Donaldson employees generated $11,000 for the United Way of Lee County’s 2012 campaign, and the corporate gift from Donaldson may double that number, the agency said Wednesday in a news release.

So far, the Lee campaign has raised $165,000 or 38 percent of its $440,000 goal. With only 10 days to go until the final report session on Nov. 9, United Way leaders are urging everyone to submit their pledge or donation in the next week.

“Our agencies need this money,” says Katie Dallam-Pratt, UWLC board president. “We’re down to the wire, and we need everyone to donate now.”

Kim Watley, who has been working to raise funds in new sources in the Amboy area, was named the Volunteer of the Week for her extra efforts in contacting new businesses and contributors.

She already has reached her goal, but still is raising more dollars.

Other fundraising efforts:

n Today, Maria’s Pizza in Dixon will donate $1 for every extra-large pizza sold.

n Monday, Pizza Hut in Dixon is donating 10 percent of its sales to United Way.

n On Nov. 17, tips to United Way guest bartenders at the Long Branch in Amboy will go to UWLC.

n There will be a United Way Trivia Night Nov. 29 at the Post House in Dixon, with all proceeds going to the agency.

n Contributions also can be made at or mailed to United Way of Lee County, P.O. Box 382, Dixon, IL 61021.

The money is split between 28 Lee County agencies that provide health and human services to thousands of county residents.
