Judge OKs closure of Rockford mental health center
ROCKFORD (AP) — An Illinois circuit judge has given the go-ahead for a Rockford mental health facility to close.
The Rockford Register Star reports (http://bit.ly/RnTw79 ) the judge on Tuesday denied an Illinois Nurses Association request to delay the closure of Singer Mental Health Center. The nurses filed suit in Winnebago County seeking to stop the closure until there can be a review of a state board's decision allowing it. The Chicago-based union represents nurses who work at the facility.
The review is still pending and a status update is set for Nov. 15.
