Gerald K. Insley

ROCK FALLS – Gerald Keith Insley, 78, of Rock Falls, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, at Rock Falls Rehabilitation Center. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1985, then worked as a custodian at East Coloma Grade School for 8 years.

He was born Nov. 12, 1933, in Rock Falls, the son of Harry and Dorothy (Hendrix) Insley. He married Marilyn Hall, and they had two children, Victoria and Charles. He later married Sue Bartlebaugh on June 2, 1967, and they had two children, Michelle and Mike.

Gerald was a member of First Christian Church in Rock Falls, where he served as a deacon and past Sunday school superintendent. He was a member of the Rock Falls Lions Club until its closure. In his younger years, he played baseball and bowled. He also coached in the Babe Ruth league from 1959 to 1960, and then coached the Little League Pirates from 1961 to 1973.
