Carroll students win awards in academic competition

MOUNT CARROLL – West Carroll FFA Greenhand, or first-year, members competed during the Section 1 FFA Quiz Bowl Contest Oct. 17 at Eastland High School in Lanark.

The Green team won first place, consisting of Cameron Ehlers, Brianna Kampmeier, Cassie Johnson, Bailey Durward and Quinn Rumler. The Black team took fourth place, including members Chelsea Wurster, Brianna Davis, Angela Dietterich, Makayla Huizenga, Ken Quinn, Clayton Storjohann, Jared Coverdill and Tristen Ritchie. 

The quiz bowl was part of a leadership training school at Eastland. Workshops were provided for chapter officers and other members. Dalton Heavner, state FFA vice president, gave a keynote address.

Section 1 FFA Officers for 2012-2013 are Cory Snetcher, president, from Eastland High School; Brianna Bendorf, vice president from Forreston High School; Landon Baumgartner, secretary, and Luke Jeffrey, treasurer, both from Orangeville High School; Brooke Krippendorf, reporter, from Stockton High School, Kody Miller, sentinel, from Dakota High School; and Cynthia Feltmeier, adviser, from Eastland.
