Geneva teachers file intent to strike

GENEVA (AP) – School officials in another suburban Chicago school district say they’re preparing for a strike.

The teachers’ union in Geneva School District 304 has delivered notice of an intent to strike and school officials will begin working on strike plans. The two sides have been negotiating since February.

Both sides posted their final offers to the Illinois Educational Labor Relations Board on Friday.

The main issues between the district and the union has been salaries. The union says the district has enough money in reserves for raises and has asked for a 1 percent raise in the first year. But the district’s offer outlines a salary freeze.

State law says two weeks must pass filed before a strike can take place. The earliest teachers could walk out is Friday, Nov. 9.

Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
