AMBOY – Lee County board member Rick L. Ketchum, an Amboy Democrat seeking re-election on Nov. 6, has completed a university-level leadership course, the United Counties Council of Illinois said in a news release.

Ketchum, who has his eye on the board chairmanship, now is chairman of its Finance Committee.

He graduated from the University of Illinois Institute of Government and Public Affairs 2012 Leadership Academy, a comprehensive program designed for county officials, elected and appointed, that focuses on critical thinking, problem-solving, planning, self-assessment and change, the council said in a news release.

The academy is a joint venture of the U of I and the council.
