Elsie M. Hamas

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – Elsie M. Hamas, 90, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., formerly of Dixon, died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at Hospice Family Care in Prescott, Ariz.

She was born Dec. 13, 1921, in Chana, the daughter of Wilke and Katie (Reinema) Engelkes. She married Albert F. “Beano” Hamas on Oct. 29, 1942, in Streator. He preceded her in death on May 12, 1991.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan Lys of Prescott Valley; two sons, Richard (Kathy) Hamas of Byron and Michael (Paulette) Hamas of Dixon; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Erda Johnson of Loves Park.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Dixon, with the Rev. John Gow officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Dixon.
