Come to Nov. 9 meeting to back concealed carry
Last year about this time, the Brown County Board sent a resolution to all county boards in the state of Illinois. It called on them to write a letter of endorsement to the state Legislature in support of House Bill 148 (concealed carry). The resolution was referred to the Whiteside County Executive Committee, where it died.
Four counties in the state declined to endorse this bill. They were two metro Chicago counties, East St. Louis, and Whiteside.
At the last meeting of the Whiteside County Board, I brought a petition with 547 signatures asking the board to support this legislation. After presenting the petitions, I asked for questions. The only question asked was when this legislation would be up for a vote. I didn’t know, but I assumed it would be brought up soon. The petition was then referred back to the executive committee for review and action.
