Vote Kovarik for circuit clerk

Published: Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012 1:15 a.m. CST

My name is Mike Glassburn. Together with my brother, I farm our family farm in rural Tampico. Karl Kovarik lives on a small neighboring farm with his wife and children. He is always ready to help a neighbor at a moment’s notice and leads the church choir every Sunday.

He earned the respect of our volunteer fire department by serving as a trustee, in spite of other demands on his time. Karl is a very hard worker, is very good with numbers, and was elected to serve as the treasurer for the Whiteside County Fair and Morrison Rotary Club.

Karl has a college degree and now serves as the Whiteside County 911 coordinator. He will be undaunted as paper court records are replaced with electronic files that can be shared with the public easily. He will not be overwhelmed by the new communication systems required when television cameras become a commonplace in the courtroom. He will be kind, courteous, and available to the public.

I urge the readers to vote for a very fine man for Whiteside County Circuit Court clerk.

Rock Falls is considering a ban on leaf burning. Should the city finally take that step?
Yes. Sterling and Dixon have had bans for years. It’s time for Rock Falls to impose a ban.
No. It would be too great a burden for homeowners to dispose of fallen leaves in other ways.
