Urges voters to vote Kovarik

I urge voters to vote for Karl Kovarik for Whiteside County circuit court clerk. Many of you know me as a deputy sheriff, and 2 years ago, I put my name in the mix for Whiteside County sheriff.

I first met Karl when he was working as a probation officer for the Whiteside County court system in 1988. He was always well prepared and ready for court and is very familiar with the operations of our court.

In 1996, the Whiteside County 911 phone board decided it needed a self-disciplined person to coordinate all the information systems (a fancy name for computers) so that calls to each local police department reached the proper emergency service dispatcher as soon as possible. If you or a family member received fire, ambulance or police assistance after placing a 911 call, you have Karl to thank, in part, for our quick response.

The other day, we ran a story about the Dixon Tourism Board's website, which is hard to navigate and missing key information, particularly about the Petunia Festival. Are we wasting our time examining local tourism websites?
