Prosecutor’s delays mean justice denied
All right, now let me see if I’ve got this straight. The current Lee County state’s attorney, Mr. Henry Dixon, is apparently choosing to flout the laws he’s been elected to uphold on the basis that he doesn’t agree with them. I mean, that’s the only rational conclusion one could draw from this James Tegtmeyer fiasco in Ogle County.
The judge has told Dixon that he or one of his assistants must appear to prosecute the case; he’s refused. A man [is charged with] a felony along with theft, but it seems the current prosecutor can’t be bothered.
Not to be confused with a case of prosecutorial discretion since charges have already been filed, Dixon is very purposefully deciding he won’t do his job because he doesn’t agree with the law as written. Stunning.
