Officer shoots car, woman during stop

Cop also injured, on administrative leave

SAVANNA – State Police are investigating an officer-related shooting that occurred during a traffic stop early Tuesday.

The woman who was shot was treated and released. The Savanna Police officer involved, also treated for injuries and released, is on administrative leave pending further investigation, Savanna Police Chief Michael Moon said in a news release.

ISP Lt. Kurt Cavanaugh declined to release the name of the officer, citing the ongoing investigation. He also declined to identify the woman or the man she was with.
