Man receives probation in sexual abuse case

OREGON – A Polo man pleaded guilty Monday to sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl in June and was given 4 years of probation.

Shannan Haenitsch, 40, pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. As part of his plea agreement, three other counts were dropped. He also must register as a sex offender.

In September, Ogle County Sheriff Michael Harn said deputies were contacted by a 16-year-old girl who said Haenitsch sexually abused her. He has been in jail since his Sept. 14 arrest.
