Keep children warm; give to Coats for Kids

I believe we, for the first time, might be ready for cool weather; not sure for winter, but we can probably mostly agree on cooler weather. While we managed the warmth of summer 2012, it is time to begin our local Coats for Kids program. We want to make sure that the children in our Sterling/Rock Falls community will feel the warmth of winter wear.

The Sterling Kiwanis Club is so appreciative of the support and generosity our community provides. We are beginning our annual appeal for your support, compassion and generosity, which has always made Coats for Kids a success. With your support, we will again be able to ensure that every child in need in our community will have an adequate winter coat.

Kiwanis Coats for Kids is a 501(c)3 charity. All donations qualify as charitable tax deductions. School nurses will distribute vouchers to qualifying students. For children not in school, please contact the Coats for Kids phone number listed below.

Good or bad? Depends on who you ask

Sometimes readers ask for more good news in the paper. They say we in the media only cover the bad. But one person's positive is another's negative.

My kind of game

I would have gladly paid to take in the game I covered Saturday morning in Morrison.
