Keep children warm; give to Coats for Kids
I believe we, for the first time, might be ready for cool weather; not sure for winter, but we can probably mostly agree on cooler weather. While we managed the warmth of summer 2012, it is time to begin our local Coats for Kids program. We want to make sure that the children in our Sterling/Rock Falls community will feel the warmth of winter wear.
The Sterling Kiwanis Club is so appreciative of the support and generosity our community provides. We are beginning our annual appeal for your support, compassion and generosity, which has always made Coats for Kids a success. With your support, we will again be able to ensure that every child in need in our community will have an adequate winter coat.
Kiwanis Coats for Kids is a 501(c)3 charity. All donations qualify as charitable tax deductions. School nurses will distribute vouchers to qualifying students. For children not in school, please contact the Coats for Kids phone number listed below.
Parents and guardians will be able to use vouchers at Kmart and Farm and Fleet. The children will choose the coat they desire. Each voucher is worth $40.
Each donor will receive a receipt. Kiwanis Club finances are handled by club treasurer John VanOsdol, formerly of Lindgren, Callihan, VanOsdol and Co. prior to his retirement, and the WIPFLIi CPA firm.
Thank you for your consideration, and we hope you can participate. Donations can be mailed to: Kiwanis Coats for Kids, P.O. Box 44, Sterling, IL 61081.
