James R. Love Sr.

STERLING – James R. Love Sr., 85, of Dixon, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, at Coventry Village in Sterling, after a brief illness. He was a retired dispatcher from Ling Transfer in Dixon.

He was born June 7, 1927, in Boone, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Jennie (Chaney) Love. He married Barbara McConnaughy on July 18, 1945, in Dixon. She preceded him in death on June 15, 2007. He was a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by daughters, Vicki (John) Ristow and Linda K. (Thomas) Sanford, both of Dixon; sons, Michael James (Linda) Love of Sterling and James Robert Love Jr. of Dixon; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael James Love Jr.; and a sister, Eileen.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by the funeral at 11 a.m., Friday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Dixon, with the Rev. Vincent Marrandino, director of pastoral care at KSB Hospital, officiating. Entombment will be at the Briarwood Mausoleum at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, with military honors accorded by the Dixon combined veterans organizations.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Dixon American Legion or Dixon Veterans Park.
