Article:	Vote ‘no’ on tax referendum A few facts to consider before you vote for the sales tax referendum. We currently pay $1 in sales tax (6.75 percent) for every $14.85 we spend. If the referendum passes, we will pay $1.15 for sales tax (7.75 percent) for every $14.85 that we spend. The amount of sales tax that we pay will increase by 14.8 percent, not 1 percent.
