AFC moves on at Erie

Oregon, BV also advance to regional semifinals

Lexie Fore and Sarah Matson each had five kills to lead AFC to a 17-25, 25-11, 25-19 victory over Polo in a first-round contest at the Class 1A Erie Regional on Monday night.

Also for the Raiders (16-18), Kayla Colwell had 13 digs, Cassidy Koning had 11 digs, 11 points, four kills and two aces and Kalyn Murre added 23 points and five aces.

AFC will take on Erie tonight.

Class 2A

Christian Life Regional: Devyn Absher had 12 kills and Delaney Mahoney added 23 assists as Oregon rolled over South Beloit 25-7, 25-20 in a first-round match in Rockford.

The Hawks will take on Byron tonight.

Fulton Regional: Clare Kramer had nine digs, six kills and two aces for Prophetstown in a 25-17, 25-17 loss to Alleman in a first-round game in Fulton.

Also for Prophetstown, Katlyn Shirley had 12 digs and two aces, Kate Fringer had 11 assists and two aces, and Emily Howard added five kills.

Alleman will take on Riverdale today.

Orion Regional: Lindsey Hoffert had seven kills, four points, two aces and two digs to lead Bureau Valley to a 25-18, 25-21 win over Rockridge in the first round in Orion.

Also for the Storm (11-17-2), Danae Ross had eight digs, six points and two aces, and Sydney Lebahn added 15 assists and four digs.

Bureau Valley will take on Orion tonight.

Galena Regional: Brianna Bautsch had 14 assists and 10 kills as Galena gained a 25-17, 25-15 victory over West Carroll in a first-round game in Galena.

The Pirates will take on Lena-Winslow tonight.

Class 3A

Sterling Regional: Mendota and Princeton earned wins at Musgrove Fieldhouse to advance to today’s regional semifinals.

Mendota gained a 22-25, 25-9, 25-17 decision over Plano. Next up for the Trojans is top-seeded Sterling.

Princeton was a 25-4, 25-9 winner over Sandwich. The Tigers will take on second-seeded Rock Falls.

College volleyball

Sauk Valley def. Ashford JV 24-26, 25-21, 25-22, 25-12: Stacey Stewart spiked 12 kills, Jessica Bonnell ripped 11 kills, and the Skyhawks improved to 23-12 with a four-set victory in Clinton.

Kalli Scheppers finished with nine kills and 12 digs, and Karly Koch dished 30 assists for Sauk. Mariah Long and Nicole Shaffer led the way with 16 digs apiece.
