Etta Mae Grimes Greenwood
ROCKFORD – Etta Mae Grimes Greenwood, 87, of Rockford, formerly of the Dixon and Sterling area, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at her home. She worked in the dietary department at KSB Hospital in Dixon before retiring.
Etta was born Jan. 8, 1925, in Tiskilwa, the daughter of Fred and Lillian Beatrice (Benningfield) Farmer. She married Marvin L. Grimes in June 1942. He preceded her in death on Nov. 8, 1975. She married Clem Greenwood in June 1984. He preceded her in death on July 26, 2012. Etta was a member of Harvest Time Bible Church in Rock Falls.
Survivors include six sons, Donald (Carol) Grimes of Deltona, Fla., Thomas (Janet) Grimes of Rochelle, Marvin (Joyce) Grimes of Spring Valley, Steven Grimes of Oregon, Ronald (Doryce) Grimes of Sandy, Utah, and Douglas (Connie) Grimes of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Karen Grimes of Toronto, Canada, and Rita Grimes of Rockford; one sister, Edith Bramer of Walnut; 24 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one stepdaughter, Alice Schauffler of Arkansas; and four stepsons, Homer Greenwood of Oregon, Leroy Greenwood of Wisconsin, Neil Greenwood of Chicago and Gary Greenwood of Franklin Grove.
