If anyone understands the statewide anticipation of the IHSA playoff pairings being released, it’s the Newman Comets.
That understanding reached a whole new level Saturday night.
The perennial powerhouse has made the playoffs 12 straight seasons. But the team, which gathered at the high school for mass and the annual Burning of the Jock celebration, had to resort to refreshing the 3A bracket’s page until the pairings were revealed.
