ROCK FALLS – There’s nothing like a little friendly competition to get the juices flowing.

Rock Falls’ Katie Anderson and Makaley Velazquez reached the chute at the end of the Class 1A Rock Falls Regional on Saturday at Centennial Park at the same time, and neither was ready to give in. Both ended up with identical times of 19 minutes,
7 seconds, but Anderson narrowly edged her teammate for second place.

“[Makaley] and my other teammates push me a lot,” said Anderson, who passed Velazquez in the final moments. “I don’t think I could do what I do without them.”
