Boys cross country: Cole finishes as runner-up, as does Newman team

ROCK FALLS – Brandt Cole beat 78 runners Saturday. Only one beat him. Yet, the Rock Falls senior was disappointed.
Competing in the Class 1A Rock Falls Regional at Centennial Park, Cole ran a time of 15 minutes, 50 seconds, besting the entire field other than Alleman’s Ethan Adlfinger, who topped Cole by 15 ticks.
Cole has been battling illness, but was not about to use that as an excuse.
