Vote ‘no’ on school-related sales tax hike
Should voters in Lee county approve a 1 percent school-related sales tax? This taxpayer is a definitive no.
For years, household incomes have fallen, nationally, more than $4,000. Nearly 2 years ago, Gov. Pat Quinn and the Democratic-led Legislature raised income taxes on every Illinois person by 67 percent and raised taxes on every business. Because of “Obamacare,” the American people, including those in Lee County, have been saddled with more than 20 new, higher taxes.
On Jan. 1, all Americans are scheduled to see their federal income tax rates increase as current tax rates expire. To put it simply, Lee County residents are taxed enough already with local, state and federal taxes.
