Students attend Youth in Harmony

Youth in Harmony boys and girls learn choreographed moves Sept. 19 at Sterling High School.

DeKALB – Prairie Echoes chorus participated in the Youth in Harmony Festival Sept. 19 at Sterling High School.

The event was sponsored by the Rock River Valley Men’s Barbershop Chorus, directed by Tim Pashon, and Waldorf Hair Co.

High school students from 11 schools and their teachers attended from Byron, Erie, Milledgeville, Pearl City, Scales Mound, Eastland in Lanark, Unit Christian in Fulton, Polo, Rock Falls, Sherrard and Sterling. There were 105 girls and 50 boys at the singing workshop.

Four members of Prairie Echoes, Cara Ebersole, Karen Stuedemann, Charleen McCracken, Merridith Bridgewater and their director, Donna Bates, reviewed accapella-vocal techniques in barbershop style.

The students and teachers sang a number of songs, and Prairie Echoes Chorus and Rock River Valley Chorus performed.

Members of the Waldorf Hair Company are Tim Pashon, Craig Ahlgrim, Terry Ludwig and Rich Hanson. They performed “I Wanna Life til I Die.”

The event ended with a zany rendition of “Cinderella.”
