I've been reading what people think of the additional 1 percent sales tax, our children's education, and what our city needs. As with everything that involves politics and taxes, the naysayers are the loudest voices heard.

Being a parent of two children in Dixon Schools and a PTO board member, I've seen what goes on in our schools and spoken to hundreds of people with kids in the school system. We all have the same opinion; it's filled with enthusiastic, well-educated teachers and staff. We have an amazing school system.

The PTO and schools faced criticism when deciding the best use of our funds would be to increase classroom technology. I'm proud we went ahead with our decision, and our kids are now greatly benefiting from that.
