If the IHSA playoffs are the main course for high school football teams, Sterling has itself quite a Week 9 appetizer.

A Northern Illinois Big 12 West conference championship will be on the line Friday night when Ottawa (8-0) pays a visit to Roscoe Eades Stadium to take on the Golden Warriors (6-2). Both teams are 4-0 in league play, and the winner will have the crown all to itself.

Sterling coach Jon Schlemmer hasn’t been shy about reminding his team what is on the line. It is not just another game on the schedule.
