Volunteer has questions about Riverfront vision
I want to respond to the Oct. 9 and Oct. 10 articles. Everything I expressed was not merely my opinion but also that of some other volunteers.
“Their philosophy and vision was nothing like what we were looking at,” Larry Reed said. Weitzel and I (with zero pay) were purely altruistic; our desire to give back to Dixon. If Brickley wants to pay us, we will take it and give to John Groshans who deserves the raise.
Reed said that the director’s job “requires the person to be on call all the time.” Well, with the two of us, someone is bound to be around. Even during my vacations, I have coordinated the Reagan Dance by email; working alone, doing PSA on the radio, writing letters to the editor. Reed said he “isn’t interested in making a change.” This is very scary.
