Leffelman: Raising taxes ‘not a sensible solution’ for county
I am the best candidate for the job because I read up on issues, spend time investigating both sides, and hopefully make the correct decisions when it comes down to voting. You need to have a real interest, and in this position, I sincerely do.
I endorse “green energy,” but presently, we are receiving a lot of negativity from adjoining property owners regarding wind farms. The way to regulate is for neighbor approaching neighbor and work it out, let your feelings be known, and be good to each other. Lee County and its fine citizens have done more than their good deed by providing “green energy” with the amount of wind towers throughout our precious farmland.
County income is down, and to some members, our only salvation is zoning fees and building permits with wind towers. Raising real estate and sales taxes is not a sensible solution. Families travel to Lee County from Chicago and vicinity to enjoy what we offer. As a bonus, they also know that our taxes are lower.
