The Rev. Robert H. Sharp

ROCK FALLS – The Rev. Robert Henry Sharp, 89, of Rock Falls, died Sunday, Oct. 14, 2012, at CGH Medical Center in Sterling, surrounded by his family.

Robert was born March 7, 1923, in Rock Falls, the son of William and Nancy (Lewis) Sharp. He married Glenda V. Rippy on Nov. 12, 1942, in Wayland, Mo. She died June 12, 2004. Robert served in the Army, serving in World War II in the Pacific theater. He was a co-founder of the GI Gospel Hour. Robert was a master carpenter for all his life, a member of the Association of Lincoln Presenters and Sterling-Rock Falls Historical Society. He was an elder and retired evangelist of the First Church of the Nazarene. Robert also served as pastor and interim pastor for the Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include three daughters; Reta (Vern) Hussung-Smoot of Sterling, Cathy (Dennis) Hadley of Milledgeville and Rachel (Steven) Wilcoxen of Baltimore; three sons, Terry (Judy) Sharp of Oswego, Steven Sharp of Sterling and James (Cheryl) Sharp of Rock Falls; five sisters, Hilda Elaine Sills of Sterling, Mary Edith Ellis of Rock Falls, Florence Catherine Mead of Tennessee, Shirley Alice Moffitt of Texas and Glenda Kay Satter White of Idaho; three brothers, Warren Sharp of Sterling, Jim Sharp of Michigan and Gerald (Virginia) Sharp of Rock Falls; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
