Sterling Police

James P. Scoles, 28, of Sterling; 9:02 a.m. Friday, reported to Sterling Police Department; Whiteside County warrant for obstructing a court order; posted $300.

Edith M. Edeus, 41, of Sterling; 5:22 p.m. Friday, reported to Sterling Police Department; Whiteside County warrant for obstructing a court order; posted $300.

Brittany C. Hardy, 26, of Sterling; 8:52 p.m. Friday at Freeport Road and East Fourth Street; no insurance; give notice to appear in court.

Nathanial T. Edwards, 38, of Sterling; 1:13 a.m. Saturday at West Sixth Street and Avenue B; Whiteside County warrant for probation violation; taken to Whiteside County Jail.

Mark A. Braem, 27, of Sterling; 1:26 a.m. Saturday in 900 block of West LeFevre Road; DUI alcohol, driving while license revoked, improper lane usage, and illegal squealing of tires; given notice to appear in court.

State Police

Lyndsay Renee Rogers, 27, of Morrison; 1:34 a.m. Friday at U.S. Route 30 and Madison Street in Morrison; driving while license suspended and loud stereo; posted I-bond.

Steve Leonardo Canez, 56, of Tucson, Ariz., 2:28 p.m. Friday at West Fouth Street and East Avenue in rural Sterling; unsafe operation of a truck; issued citation.

Janice M. Kelly, 75, of Morrison; 3:04 p.m. Friday at U.S. Route 30 and state Route 251 in Lee County; no valid driver's license; posted I-bond.

Wise saw collapse in support

Last week, Sterling Alderwoman Amy Viering attended her last meeting as a city official. She gave the usual praise one hears at such departures. But one compliment stuck out. At the end of her speech, she turned to City Administrator Scott Shumard and said, "You're awesome."
