Hubert G. Hewitt

MANLUIS – Hubert Gerald Hewitt, 87, of Manlius, died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at Walnut Manor. He farmed for 40 years, worked for the Illinois Department of Transportation for 13 years and worked as a plumber in the Manlius and Kewanee area.

Hubert was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Manlius, the son of Stacy and Nettie (Olson) Hewitt. He was a 1944 graduate of Manlius High School. He served in the Army as a T5-CLP from 1944 to 1946 in Italy during World War II. He married Juanita Mae Pratt on June 26, 1965, in Manlius. She died Sept 9, 1990. He was a member of Manlius Sportsmans Club, Manlius Volunteer Fire Dept for 25 years and New Bedford Christian Church. He was an avid golfer and former member of Hidden Lake Country Club and Green River Country Club.     

Survivors include three sons, Rodney Hewitt of Manlius, Larry (Colleen) Hewitt of Arlington Heights and Paul (Debbie) Hewitt of Grand Rapids, Mich.; a daughter, Sheila Hewitt of Alameda, Calif.; five grandchildren, Lainey, Lucy, Grace and Ethan Hewitt and Sesi Lui; and two brothers, Clayton (Elaine) Hewitt of Manlius and Ronald (Connie) Hewitt of Sarasota, Fla.
