Only one division able to play Saturday
Rain puts damper on state meet
Sterling senior Andrew Blackburn was really looking forward to making a move on the final day of his high-school golf career. But he never got the chance.
The second day of the Class 2A boys state golf tournament was canceled due to inclement weather, as were the other two boys classes and the AA girls competition. Only the girls Class A division played through the rain Saturday.
Blackburn was in a five-way tie for seventh after an opening-round 76 on Friday. He got his round under way Saturday morning, playing the first three holes at 1-over par before play was delayed; he never returned to the course. Once play was officially called off, all standings reverted back to where they stood after Friday's first round.
