Innovations to close Nov. 10, may reopen

Owner cites poor economy; says she may reopen in spring

ROCK FALLS – After nearly 3 decades, a downtown boutique will close its doors next month.

Innovations 4 You, which sells women’s clothes, jewelry, accessories and prom dresses, will close after business Nov. 10, owner Patrice Vary said.

Sandy Henrekin owned the shop for 23 years before Vary bought it 5 years ago. Vary leases the building at 102 W. Second St. from Henrekin.

Vary cited declining revenue as a major reason for the closure. “Small boutiques are a tough business to be in in this economy,” she said.

She also is unhappy with her lease, which she is having a hard time satisfying, and she couldn’t find another location, she said.

Vary, of Rock Falls, said she might reopen in the spring, “on a smaller scale” and in a different area. She will not re-open in Rock Falls, she said.

“There’s just not enough revenue in the area. We’re losing a lot of businesses because there’s not enough revenue to generate income.

“I’d love to see more businesses come to town that we could get some revenue off of, but so far it’s not happening.”

Innovations 4 You is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Call 815-625-8804 for more information.
