Illinois Tollway seeking independent review
DOWNERS GROVE – Illinois Tollway officials say they want to hire a national engineering firm to review the organization's construction practices and past projects.
Tollway Executive Director Kristi Lafleur said the goal is to determine the best way to administer the agency's 15-year, $12 billion capital program.
Officials are seeking proposals to review everything from contract agreement language to administrative procedures and evaluate past construction projects to ensure they were done right.
Officials say any firm that has worked with the Tollway since September 2004 will be ineligible.
Lafleur says it's important to get an independent assessment of construction practices so the Tollway gets "the highest-quality work at the best price."
The capital program will include rebuilding and widening Interstate 90 and building a new interchange to connect I-294 to I-57.
