Aurora gas station owner gets 2 years for fraud
CHICAGO – An Aurora gas station owner has been sentenced to two years in prison for defrauding the state of more than $250,000 in sales taxes.
Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan and the Illinois Department of Revenue announced the sentencing of 40-year-old Bhavesh Gandhi of Streamwood on Friday. A Kane County judge also fined Gandhi $1,000. Gandhi was convicted of two counts of sales tax fraud and two counts of mail fraud.
Prosecutors say Gandhi underreported sales at his gas station from June 2007 through July 2009.
