Amboy rolls past Storm after halftime

Clipper surge

MANLIUS – Amboy’s Bailey Appleman knew his team needed a boost going into halftime.

Trailing 13-6 and facing a 3rd-and-5 with no timeouts from the Bureau Valley 20-yard line, the 210-pound fullback took a draw play up the middle, broke the tackle of the Storm’s Frank Gebeck at the 6, and rumbled into the end zone with 25 seconds remaining in the first half.

Although Amboy still trailed by one, the Clippers took that momentum into the second half and outscored the Storm 36-0 en route to a 48-13 victory in Manlius on Friday night.

I would have gladly paid to take in the game I covered Saturday morning in Morrison.
