STERLING – William C. “Bill” Scribner, 56, of Sterling, died Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012.  He was an over-the-road truck driver for DCM.

William was born Jan. 8, 1956, in Toledo, Ohio, the son of Elmer and Barbara Scribner. He served in the Marine Corps from 1971 to 1976. He was a member of Moose Lodge 726 in Sterling. 

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Scribner; two daughters, Jeni (Tony) Willis of Prairie Du Chien, Wis., and Jamie Scribner of Aurora; one son, Jay Scribner of Sterling; one uncle, Bob Werley of Florida; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m., with military honors at 4 p.m., Sunday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial has been established.

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
