Pub crawl in Dixon

DIXON – "Save the Boobies" pub crawl, a benefit for Lee County breast cancer support and prevention programs, runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The First Street Pub, 222 W. First St., has all the info; stop in or call 815-288-2395.

Have a ball in Byron

BYRON – The 34th annual Turkey Testicle Festival, at the intersection of Second and Union streets, offers bands, beers, bikes, fried avian delicacies and other food. Today, there will be karaoke from 5 to 9 p.m. and a performance by As One from 9 p.m. to midnight. Saturday, the bands Lizzy Neal will perform at 1, Stone Free at 4:30 and Rollin' Whiskey at 8 p.m. 

Admission is free Friday. Advance tickets for Saturday are $5 at the Fifth Alarm Firehouse Pub, 120 N. Union St. They are $10 at the gate.

New festival in Sterling

STERLING – Sterling Main Street's first Harvest Moon Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday throughout downtown Sterling. Tuff Dog Bakery’s annual pet parade and costume contest and the annual United Way chili cook-off will be the same day.

Vendors will set up on Light Street, which is the parking lot alley next to Martin's Steaks and Spirits, 14 E. Third St. There also will be a petting zoo, a straw bale maze, a cupcake walk and hayrack rides from the market throughout the downtown.

It's a Second Saturday again

DIXON – Second Saturdays Art Happenings, featuring art, music and other cultural events, returns to various venues, mostly from 6 to 8 p.m. downtown, between First and Second streets and Peoria and Galena avenues.

In addition, the Second Saturdays Studio Co-op Jam runs from 8 p.m. to midnight. Signup for the open mic event starts at 7 p.m. A sound system will be provided; bring your own instrument. Wine, beer and pizza will be for sale.

Walk with the dead

DIXON – "Tales from Beyond the Grave," the fourth annual cemetery walk, is from 1 to 4 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetery, 416 Dement Ave. It features costumed actors telling stories about the dead buried in the historical cemetery. Guided historical tours this year will focus on the history of streets in Dixon.

Admission is $5, children younger than 12 are free.
