New clinic now open in Dixon

DIXON – A chiropractic clinic that uses a special method of relieving chronic pain opened Wednesday at 304 S. Peoria Ave.

At his “full-service” clinic, Steve Piller will offer matrix repatterning, a gentle, hands-on therapy that uses a precise scanning process to find the source of a condition. From there, gentle manual pressure is used to encourage the body to shift back into its healthy state.

The method decreases the restrictions in people’s connective tissue, which reduces chronic pain and adds vitality to the patient, Piller said. The method can be particularly effective for those with fibromyalgia, he said.

Piller, 47, graduated from Dixon High School in 1983. He has been a chiropractor for 23 years. He practiced in Rochelle from 1989 to 1996, and previously worked with his father, Richard Piller, in the elder Piller’s Dixon practice.

His new clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday and from 8 a.m. to noon Tuesday. He will take patients by appointment only on Thursday.

Nippon Sharyo

ROCHELLE – The new Nippon Sharyo plant will build 130 bi-level passenger rail cars to be used in four states that bid jointly on equipment for Amtrak routes, including one that will go through Rockford, Gatehouse News Service reports.

The California Department of Transportation, lead agency for the rail car purchase, announced the $352 million award Wednesday.

“The fact that they moved here from Japan to Illinois enables them to compete for these contracts,” said Brooke Anderson, a spokeswoman for Gov. Pat Quinn, said of Nippon Sharyo.

California will receive 42 rail cars. The other 88 cars will be bought by a Midwest coalition of Illinois, Michigan, and Missouri. Illinois said the train car purchase will better accommodate passengers and high speed rail.

The rail cars will be delivered between 2015 and early 2018.
