Money raised will go toward sawmill display

An event to raise funds to buy the Paltrok Sawmill, currently on loan at the Windmill Cultural Center, was deemed an overwhelming success.

The event took place Sept. 28 at Rastrelli’s Tuscany Event Center. The goal was to raise $6,800 to pay the remaining balance on the sawmill designed by Henk and June Hielema.

The evening’s events included both a silent and live auction, live music, and a wide assortment of appetizers and desserts from 10 European countries. Sponsorships to help support the event were sold ahead of time. The event raised slightly more than $8,000. The remaining funds will be deposited in the Windmill Area Endowment Fund.
