Help wounded warriors; go to Oct. 20 benefit

We all support our troops with ribbon magnets on vehicles and help if there is a veterans function to attend. But have we done what we could to help those who have come back home missing limbs and eyes, and paralyzed with no possible way of getting a job and supporting themselves and their families?

Now, we have a chance to show how much we all truly do care.

If you are currently a veteran, or have ever served, we invite you to come to this benefit.

The Wounded Warriors Foundation for the Midwest Region is in great need for funds to continue to help veterans and their families with their everyday needs. It took quite a lot to even get approved by the Wounded Warriors Leaders to have this benefit sanctioned, but the mission is set for 2 to 7 p.m. Oct. 20 at the Fulton Fire Station on state Route 84.

Coupe de Ville will play music from 4 to 7 p.m. The ABATE motorcycle group will have a 50/50 raffle, and we hope they come in great numbers, as many are veterans. The firefighters will grill great food with special barbecued pulled pork sandwiches.

We ask that you bring a donation to place in our box. Every person, business, VFW, American Legion, etc., will be noted on our tally board. Our goal is to raise $15,000.

If you are unable to attend but want to make a contribution, please write a check payable to Wounded Warriors Project and send it to Barb Janis, 1208 Third St., Fulton, IL 61252. Your contribution is 100 percent tax deductible.

If you want to help with this function, you may call me at 815-589-9191. Together, we will make a difference in the lives of those who sacrificed so much for us.

Note to readers – Barb Suehl-Janis is the event chairwoman.
