MOUNT MORRIS –Pinecrest Community has been awarded a $10,000 grant by the Ralph E. and Mildred Johnson Fund of the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois.

The grant will be used for its Pinecrest Pathways: Beds program to purchase a block of new beds.

The Pinecrest Pathways program directly addresses several aspects of Pinecrest Community’s overall mission. Replacing all the older beds is a key component of the program launched earlier this summer. The Pathways program also includes the physical, occupational and speech therapy aspects of residents’ health.

This grant is the first of its kind for Pinecrest, which is home to hundreds in Mount Morris.

The Pathways Mission is funded by individual donations, which kicked off the fundraising. Pinecrest’s Advancement Department also sought funding opportunities which included writing grant proposals and seeking partnerships with foundations.

Sometimes readers ask for more good news in the paper. They say we in the media only cover the bad. But one person's positive is another's negative.
