Dateline Dixon: A fond goodbye

Text Size: AaAaAaAaAa

DIXON – I've thought a lot more about this column than I probably should have.

I didn't want it to be cheesy or anything, and so I'll just be matter of fact about it.

Thursday will be my last day with Sauk Valley Media. I have accepted a reporting position with the Northwest Herald, which is based in Crystal Lake, one of the northwest suburbs of Chicago. It also is owned by Shaw Media.

I have really enjoyed my time covering the city of Dixon and will certainly be watching from afar the progress it makes over the next months and years.

Sauk Valley Media has not yet hired my replacement, but I'm confident I leave you in good hands.

I just hope you're all as kind and welcoming to that person as you were to me – even when I was writing things you'd probably rather I didn't.
