STERLING – There will be food, music and more Sunday to help a Rock Falls man facing medical expenses.

Dennis L. Kerkove, 52, had a hemorrhagic stroke July 18, causing bleeding and cell death in his brain. He underwent surgery to remove a bone flap and relieve pressure from brain swelling. Dennis since has returned home, but is receiving physical, occupational and speech therapy at CGH Medical Center.

Brenda Murray, Dennis's fianceé, said, "He doesn't have insurance. He had his own lawn care business."

The benefit will start at 1 p.m. at the Latin American Social Club, 2708 W. Lincolnway. There is no admission cost. The Cal Stage Band will perform, as will 4-Gone Conclusions and Liquid Highway.

Food will be served, and a live auction will take place. A 50/50 drawing will be held, with tickets for $1 or $5 for six. A cash raffle also is scheduled, with $1 a ticket or $5 for six. First prize is $200, with $150 for second and $75 for third.

Call Murray at 779-245-8217 for more information.
