– There will be no panel discussion at 1:30 p.m. today during a disability awareness program at Sauk Valley Community College, 173 state Route 2, Dixon. The discussion was mentioned in an article on page C9 of Saturday’s Sauk Valley Weekend and in The Week Ahead in Monday’s editions.

– While a number of local political candidates will be participating in the Meet the Candidates/Guest Bartender event Oct. 19 at Long Shot Bar & Grill in Rock Falls, not all will be serving alcohol. In fact, some candidates asked not to be associated with the sale of alcohol, according to Rock Falls Chamber of Commerce President Bethany Bland.

Wise saw collapse in support

On pensions, Bivins and GOP far apart

Sen. Tim Bivins, R-Dixon, joined with many of his fellow Senate Republicans this week to reject a pension bill sponsored by Democratic Senate President John Cullerton of Chicago. The measure passed 40-16. Bivins had a different reason for his no vote.
